Program Rankings for Online Master’s Degree Programs

Going to a top school in your field can help give your resume that little extra “something” if you’re one of the candidates being considered for a job. While top schools vary by major, some schools are simply known as having great master’s degree programs. Here are some online schools that top the list:

Western Governors University

One of the best online schools if you want to earn your master’s degree is Western Governors University. The majors available at this school include programs in education, business, healthcare, and information technology, and they also have a number of undergraduate degree programs if you’re not yet ready to get your master’s degree. For students on a budget, they offer a less expensive accelerated learning project, and most of their programs are extremely flexible, which means you can go to school on your own time. What really sets this college apart, however, is that all students have a mentoring team, helping you through every step of your education.

Capella University

Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Capella University offers online master’s degree classes in a number of areas, and after you graduate with your master’s degree, you can also consider going back to school as one of their online PhD program students. Capella also partners with a number of employers and government organizations to help make tuition affordable for students, so check with their financial aid department to see if you qualify.

Walden University

Walden University has been offering students education from afar since the 1970s, long before many other colleges even considered this option. They’re accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges and have a number of online master’s degree programs that require no on-campus learning. Like Capella, they also have PhD programs for students who want ton continue their education after graduating with a master’s degree.

These three universities may be among the top offering online master’s degree programs, but they aren’t by far your only options. Make a list of all the qualities you want most in an online eduction and check out all the schools that meet these qualifications, even if they aren’t top-ranked by outside publications. Sometimes the best school for others isn’t the best school for you.
